The Ventura County Probation Agency Placement Unit is recruiting Resource Families for youth who are in foster care and placed on probation. We are a specialized unit that work closely with youth who have been placed on formal probation pursuant to Section 602 WIC, removed from their family home and ordered into foster care by the Ventura County Juvenile Court. Many of our youth cross over from the Child Welfare System as 300 WIC dependents and have the same struggles as those you may have already assisted.
The unit’s primary focus is to provide foster youth a safe and healthy environment. Our goal is to empower youth in care and achieve permanency. As foster youth are among the most vulnerable population, our officers provide intensive case management with a team approach. Officers oversee the delivery of reunification and aftercare services to safely return youth to their homes or assist them in their transition to independent living. We often take on the role of social worker, probation officer, and guardian.
There are several benefits to working with our specialized unit:
- You will have a designated probation officer assigned to the youth that you can call for support.
- You will have the support of the Delinquency Court.
- The youth will have outlined court ordered terms and conditions of probation for the youth to abide by which will assist with accountability.
- You will be provided a monthly reimbursement to help meet the needs of the youth.
If you are interested in having a positive impact on the lives of foster youth, please reach out to our team at resourcefamilyinfo@ventura.org. We are available to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
